Application of CMC in Industrial Field

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose can often be distinguished according to its use and can be divided into food/pharmaceutical grade and industrial grade. Among them, industrial grade CMC is widely used in washing, oil drilling, coating, paper making, ceramics and some other industries.

In the most common washing industry, whether it is laundry powder or laundry liquid, CMC is required, because CMC is a surfactant with hydrophilic groups and hydrophobic groups, and is a highly effective anti-adsorption adsorbent. After CMC is dissolved in water, it has good thickening, dispersing and emulsifying effects. It can absorb oil particles in oil, disperse the oil suspension and other suspended matter in the oil in the water and will be washed. For detergent liquid, we mainly use its properties of emulsification and protective colloids. It can prevent dirt from re-depositing on the laundry, keep white fabrics white, and colored fabrics bright in color.

In the oil drilling field, CMC as one of good stabilizers can help prolong the stable life of drilling mud, and also resist the damage of mud and bit which is caused by various soluble salts. It can also be used in drilling fluid, fixing fluid and fracturing fluid. In drilling fluid, CMC works as viscosifier, filtration reducer and rheology controller; In fixing fluid, it is used to control fluid viscosity, suspend heavy objects and avoid fluid loss; In fracturing fluid, it is used to carry stuffing and avoid fluid loss.

CMC is an excellent dispersant and adhesive, as well as a water-retaining agent capable of emulsifying. Due to these characteristics, it is widely used in the paper industry. Adding to the wet end of papermaking, it can effectively improve the bond of pulp fibers and improve the uniformity and strength of paper.

Industrial grade CMC covers many fields, and there are dozens of specifications suitable for different industries and processing technologies. Welcome to consult us for more details and quotations.
