The Application of Sodium CMC in Textile Industry

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (often called as CMC or Sodium CMC) is known as “industrial monosodium glutamate” because it can be widely used in many industries, such as painting, detergent, textile, ceramic, mining, oil-drilling etc. Today, we will talk about CMC used in textile industry as sizing agent, thickening agent of printing and dyeing paste, and textile printing and hard finishing.

CMC used for thickening agent can help improve solubility and viscosity, and is easy to desizing;  The dosage of CMC is more than 95% if it is used as stiffening agent;  When CMC is used as sizing agent, the strength and bending performance of the slurry film can be significantly improved. The glucose biosensor made by using the composite membrane composed of regenerated filament protein and CMC as the substrate to fix glucose oxidase and ferrocene carboxylate has high sensitivity and stability. The results show that when the silica gel homogenate is prepared with CMC solution of about 1% (w/v), the chromatographic performance of the thin layer plate is the best. At the same time, the thin layer plate coated under optimized conditions has appropriate layer strength, which is suitable for various techniques and easy for operation. CMC has adhesion to most fibers, can improve the bond between fibers, and the stability of its viscosity ensures the uniformity of sizing, thereby improving the efficiency of weaving. CMC can also be used as a finishing agent for textiles, especially permanent anti-wrinkle finishing, which brings durable changes to the fabric.
